The ISO that you downloaded is meant to help you create thinclients. It will not actually boot on a thinclient. You should install it on a much more powerful computer and then create images for thinclients.

Well.. This is what i done till now:
=> i download ThinStation 5 from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/thinstation/files/thinstation/
=> I Burned the image on cd and installed on a physical pc
=> After reboot ThonStation PC, from terminal, cd /ts/5.1 and then run
./build
=> then by FTP I transfer all files in /ts/5.1/boot-images/syslinux on a
WINDOWS xp pc
=> In windows, I format a USB pen 4 Gb in FAT32
=> run syslinux.exe -m -a I: where i is USB drive
=> Copy all file from syslinux to usb pen
=> Boot thin client Wyse VX0 V30 from USB

And here i've got an error:

After the Verifying DMI pool data i receive:

SYSLINUX 4.07 EDD 2013-07-25 Copyright (C) 1994-2013 H. Peter Anvin et al
Thinstation Linux

Invalid or corrupt kernel image
boot:

Can you please give some advice?? Or tell me where i made some mistake??

Thank's in advance

Ok Ok.. I change the way...

So i plug USB drive directly to ThinStation PC.
Accordingly to file README.syslinux under /thinstation/ts/5.1/Documentation:

I copy VMLINUZ, INITRD and syslinux.cfg to USB drive.

Then i boot wyse ThinClient VX0 V30 from usb.

Now.. After loading VMLINUZ and INITRD i recevie an error message like:

Not enough memory to load specified image...

You are gonna have to remove some stuff. That machine only has 128mb ram, so your max initrd size is around 27-30mb

HI Don Cupp..
Thank for reply.
I supposed this was the problem. There is a way to reduce the initrd image
size??
I need only a thin-client that connect to rdp to terminal server WIN 2008
R2.. Nothing else..

Ok..

I find out the build.conf file..

After some setting the initrd size has been reduced to 60 Mb.

It's seems the size is ok.. But now i have another error regarding the CPU..

"This kernel requires the following features not present in CPU: PAE cx8
Unable to boot. Please use a kernel appropriate for your cpu"

It's getting interesting...

remove /build/SMP file. It's empty, but tells build to use the SMP/PAE kernel.

You can't use the SMP/PAE kernel on that hardware. So don't pass that
option to build or don't set that as your default kernel

update -k
will replace the SMP/PAE kernel with the non-SMP/non-PAE kernel by default

Alternatively, you can use --kernel option to build like
./build --kernel UP
./build --kernel 3.12.15TS

Hi experts.

This is the situation. As suggested, i deleted the SMP file to solve the
non-PAE kernel error.

Then, i did the following step:

=> i copied from /ts/5.1/conf/rdesktop to /ts/5.1/ the build.conf.example
and thinstation.conf.buildtime files

=>i edited build.conf.exmample changing the machine module list from machine
VMWare to machine HP-t5135. This because i don't need a vmware appliance and
the HP-t5135 is similar to my WYSE VX0 V30.

=> I run build command from /ts/5.1

=>i copied from /ts/5.1/boot-image/syslinux to /mnt/usb (my usb pen) the
file initrd, vmlinuz, syslinux.cfg

I try to boot my WYSE from usb and the initrd is loaded.. but now i receive
many error like:

[<c0635beb>] ? initrd_load+0x29a/0x29a
[<c064fc21>] ? gunzip+0x2e8/0x2e8

and so on..

Could you please let me know if the previous steps i do are correct or i do
some mistake.. or if you can suggest a HOW TO to deploy the thinclient...

Thank's in advance.

Your still running out of memory. You max initrd size is around 27mb(128mb ram), so try for 24mb max initrd.

Hi Don Cupp.
My initrd size is about 15.8 Mb.. Maybe is not possible run ThinStation 5.1
with only 128 Mb Ram??

It is. You can run thinstation in as little as 16mb or ram, but it's not very useful.

Send me your configs.
